CTIA has announced that former FCC chair Ajit Pai will assume the roles of President and CEO effective 1 April 2025, as reported by Fierce Wireless. Pai succeeds Meredith Attwell Baker, who has led the organization since 2014 and announced her retirement in December.

Pai brings extensive experience in telecommunications policy to CTIA. Appointed by President Trump, he served as FCC Chairman from 2017 to 2021, focused on expanding broadband access, promoting 5G deployment, and revising net neutrality regulations. Pai was an FCC Commissioner starting in 2012, following roles at DOJ and the US Senate.

Industry analysts view Pai's appointment as a strategic move for CTIA. Chetan Sharma, a telecommunications analyst, noted that Pai's regulatory expertise positions him well to advocate for the industry's interests, particularly in securing additional spectrum for commercial use.
