Alaska Air Group is advancing its global ambitions, announcing a new Seattle–Seoul Incheon route set to begin in September 2025, as flagged by *One Mile at a Time.* This expansion follows the carrier’s takeover of Hawaiian Airlines and the decision to turn Seattle-Tacoma International Airport into a global hub, aiming for twelve long-haul destinations by 2030.

The flight will operate five times weekly on an Airbus A330-200 configured with eighteen business-class seats in a 2-2-2 layout and 260 economy seats in a 2-4-2 setup. This is a relatively weak international business class product, lacking direct aisle access from each seat. While the Hawaiian brand remains on aircraft and crew for now, tickets can be purchased through both airlines. The timing of the launch aligns with the Korean holiday of Chuseok, facilitating travelers’ visits to family and friends during one of Korea’s biggest celebrations.

Alaska’s move comes amid stiff competition. As reported by the Washington Post, the Korean Air–Asiana merger coupled with Delta’s joint venture in the region dominate US–ROK routes. Yet Alaska sees potential in partnering with Korean Air for onward connections at Incheon.

For Pacific Northwest travelers, this marks a fresh alternative to established carriers. Although the A330’s business class may not match newer products, Alaska Air Group’s long-term plan involves modernizing cabins and capitalizing on Seattle’s strong customer base.
