Boeing secures $615.8 million contract for F-15 EPAWSS full-rate production
The US Air Force has awarded Boeing a sole-source contract worth up to $615.8 million for the full-rate production of the F-15 Eagle Passive Active Warning Survivability System (EPAWSS). EPAWSS is designed to improve the F-15’s survivability by detecting, identifying, and countering enemy radar and missile threats. Using advanced sensors and electronic countermeasures, the system provides pilots real-time situational awareness to neutralize threats before they become critical.
The contract covers Group A and Group B kits and system engineering program management, with work conducted in St. Louis and Nashua, New Hampshire, to be completed by the end of calendar 2030.
Despite the introduction of the fifth-generation F-35 fighter, the F-15 remains a critical USAF asset, providing high-speed, multirole capabilities alongside its stealthier counterpart. Upgrading its survivability with EPAWSS demonstrates a continued investment in the platform’s air superiority.
The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, is managing the acquisition. Funds from fiscal years 2023 to 2025 totaling over $262 million have already been obligated for the project.
