Booz Allen reneges on WorldPride 2025 sponsorship amid DEI rollback
Booz Allen Hamilton has withdrawn as a lead sponsor of WorldPride 2025, citing compliance with President Donald Trump’s executive order targeting diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, reports the Washington Business Journal. The decision comes as federal contractors bow to increased scrutiny of DEI policies by the incoming administration.
While Booz Allen insists its hiring decisions remain “merit-based,” the withdrawal raises concerns about the economic impact on DC, where WorldPride was expected to generate $680 million and attract millions of visitors. Despite Booz Allen’s exit, Beltway-based Hilton remains a sponsor, though it recently removed DEI language from its annual report, signaling corporate caution.
Capital Pride Alliance Executive Director Ryan Bos emphasized that corporations have long supported LGBTQ+ rights and should not waver at a time of renewed threats. WorldPride organizers have secured $5 million toward a projected $20 million budget and continue seeking sponsors.
