DEI is gone at DOD, trumpets GAO report
So-called gay conversion therapy promised to turn even the thoroughbred gay straight using pseudoscience and a spirituality corrupted for the purpose. Before the game began, they move the goal posts: being “straight” isn’t so much a matter of being attracted to women, but an absence of attraction to men. The latter, being solitary, is much easier to fake, and so the motivated moved the program.
Unrelatedly, on Thursday, GAO declared DOD has been converted from its DEI evils, but rather than effecting organizational change, the conversion is marked by removing people and programs with direct DEI references:
- Forty-one civilian and military positions related to DEI were eliminated
- Disbandment of the Defense Advisory Committee on Diversity and Inclusion
- A task force was stood up in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness
I wonder, will DOD continue to use race, gender, and class when designing recruiting campaigns, locating recruitment centers, or working with Hollywood, where DOD provides access to equipment, personnel, and locations in exchange for script review and approval?
Maybe it’s best we put the DEI heat to bed, it has far overtaken the light. Already the left is asking what comes after DEI, the New Yorker among them. I ask we avoid giving it a name for as long as possible.
