GSA launches go.gov for civilian travel management
GSA announced the upcoming rollout of GO.gov, a consolidated travel and expense management platform destined for official civilian federal travel. Slated for a phased launch beginning in November 2025, GO.gov aims to deliver a uniform, efficient experience for civilian travel managers and employees, building on and ultimately replacing the patchwork of legacy systems currently in use, per a July GSA press release.
Historically, federal civilian agencies have managed travel using disparate solutions, including GSA’s own E-Gov Travel Service (ETS), which has served as the backbone for federal travel since the early 2000s. With the introduction of the OneGov-branded GO.gov, GSA provides a secure, and cloud-based platform for the entire travel process, from booking and authorization to reimbursement and reporting.
GO.gov will integrate private-sector standards such as charge card integration, mobile-device access, and real-time travel management company connectivity. By consolidating agency-specific systems, GO.gov promises to streamline compliance, increase interoperability, and reduce administrative overhead.
The project is expected to generate as much as $131 million in annual travel savings and nearly $2 billion in administrative efficiencies over the 15-year contract. IBM will do its best to operate the system.
