T-mobile aggregates and crows
T-Mobile is rightly proud to first in nationwide 5G SA (stand-alone) network, and their rates are now catching up with their burnished reputation. Now, they can make big headlines aggregating channels in new ways, such as a test using Nokia equipment and a Samsung Galaxy S25 that "used six-component carrier aggregation (6-CA), combining the carrier’s low and mid-band spectrum on its 5G Standalone network to reach downlink speeds up to 6.3 Gbps." RCR Wireless News has the story.
This quote from Ulf Ewaldsson, president of technology for T-Mobile US, caught my eye: “With 6-Carrier Aggregation, we’re not just adding another feather to our cap—we’re accelerating the future of 5G Advanced.”
If not literally feathering a cap, this feels akin; few to no end users will ever see such downlink speeds nor do they need to. I cannot parse "accelerating the future," but I am nearly certain the mission has not been accomplished.
