As reported by Government Executive, thousands of recently fired federal employees are joining class actions challenging the Trump administration’s mass dismissals of probationary workers. The suits allege the administration's terminations were unlawful.

Alden Law Group and Democracy Forward have filed a class-wide complaint with the Office of Special Counsel (OSC), arguing the firings violate merit-based civil service protections. Separately, James and Hoffman is preparing an appeal to the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB) representing up to 2,000 affected employees. Federal worker unions are also exploring legal action.

The Trump administration maintains the firings align with its efficiency goals, but employees report receiving termination notices despite positive performance reviews. Should OSC rules in favor of the employees, the case will move to MSPB for corrective action. Meanwhile, Trump is challenging the reinstatement of OSC's head before the Supreme Court.
